The Daymakers were the hottest alt-rock band since the nineties, the masked members making fans swoon at the very thought of who might be hiding under the skull masks. Known only by their stage names–Royal, Hero, Poet and Knight–their real identities were a carefully held secret.

I was third-generation white trash who had no value to society. That was a direct quote from my guidance counselor, by the way. She wasn’t wrong, not really. My mom had OD’ed and my dad was in prison. I had no one and nothing.

Our paths should never have crossed. But by a weird twist of fate–and the flying fists of my ex-boyfriend–I ended up in the wrong place at the right time. Hiding from my ex beneath a tour bus, I was a convenient solution to an ongoing problem for the tour company.

They needed their band members to stop screwing random groupies and risking the anonymity which brought in millions of dollars for both the band and the label.

I needed to get the hell away from LA and earn enough money to have a fresh start.
I was taking back my future, and if that meant going on tour across the country as a glorified toy for the pleasure of some masked rockstars, then it was my choice.

Unfortunately, the demons of my past weren’t done with me yet.

THE DAYMAKERS is a standalone why choose, RH, rockstar romance. This book has sensitive topics. Always check the trigger warnings.

About The Author

When I was nine, my grandmother and her friends used to read and swap Harlequin Mills and Boons novels. When I was busted reading one, they started sneaking me boxes full of strong heroines and rugged men. Thus started a long love affair with the romance genre. Then I discovered urban fantasy, and fell in love with broody Alphas and sexy paranormals, and combining them together was a no brainer.

EPILOGUE

DREAMER HARD MARBLE CHILLED my ass but I didn’t care, because Knight was currently eating me out like I was Thanksgiving dinner. I had the fingers of one hand curled tightly in his hair, the other slapped over my mouth to muffle the noises he was eliciting from me. He kept bringing me to the precipice and pulling back, teasing me, and I was about to lose my mind. “Knight, I swear to god…” I threatened, which would have been way more scary if it hadn’t been a breathless moan. As he grinned up at me with that mischievous look in his eye, I didn’t know if I should hit him or kiss him. Luckily, he finally relented, spearing me with his tongue until I came all over his face. Leaning back against the mirror, I panted, and when he slid up my body, I kissed him hard, regardless of the fact that his lips were glossy with me. “I love you, you know?” he whispered against my lips, and I couldn’t help my smile. “I love you too, but everyone we know is downstairs, and there’s no way they haven’t noticed us both missing.” We were at Royal’s dad’s mansion for Thanksgiving. Honestly, I wasn’t sure who’d been more surprised at the invite, Royal or the rest of the guys, because when we arrived, we’d discovered Roman Stokes had invited Poet’s mom and Knight’s parents too. He hadn’t invited Hero’s parents, because apparently even an aging, degenerate rockstar could tell they were epic pieces of shit. Meeting Roman, and the guys’ parents, was a little weird. They were faces that had stared out at me from TV screens and tabloid magazines for my entire life, but having met them, I realized they were just as fucked up as the rest of us. They were just fucked up in the spotlight with a whole lot of money. Meeting the parents was hard enough. Meeting the parents when you were in a poly relationship and all those parents were famous in their own right was daunting as hell. Except Poet’s mom. Jenny was a sweetheart, and seemed to accept the alternative lifestyle we had fallen into since the tour ended four months ago. Knight heaved himself back to his feet. “Fine, I guess we have to go and play happy families. But tonight, baby, you’re mine.” I stroked my cheek against his. “I’m yours always.” Shimmying from the counter, I leaned up and kissed him once more before dragging him from the bathroom. I could hear music downstairs, as well as laughter. It was nice to hear the guys laugh again. The weeks following the end of the tour had been stressful. Their label had dropped them, but Roman Stokes had been there to pick them right back up. Apparently, Royal’s dad had been their Plan B. When they’d come to visit him after their meeting in Chicago with the Panama execs, they’d had to basically choose between me and their careers as masked rockers. They chose me. For the first time in my life, someone—several someones, actually— had chosen me. So when Panama Records booted them to the curb, Roman Stokes was there to pick up the pieces, both of their career, and his fractured father-son relationship. Roman had been bored and thinking of starting his own label. Royal had needed a fallback plan, in case Panama dug in their heels. And that was how Daydreamer Records had been born. Walking into the living room, I saw Roman regaling Poet’s mom and step-dad with some crazy story and smiled. I’d thought the guys had named the record label, but apparently, it had been Roman. He’d told me a couple of months ago it was because without me, he wouldn’t have his son back, and this was the least he could do to recognize the fact that I’d healed something between them, even if it was by jeopardizing their careers. Royal moved away from Knight’s parents, excusing himself as Knight and I reappeared in the room. His eyebrow raised as he looked between us, and I felt my face flush pink. “I didn’t know using the bathroom was a two-person job, Toy.” He kissed my lips gently, but nipped my bottom lip in reprimand. I shrugged, trying and failing to hide my smirk. “What can I say?” “Shep is going to spank that pretty ass pink later on,” he warned, or maybe promised. I just winked at him saucily and went to find Shep; maybe I’d butter him up first so he spanked Royal instead. I’d pay good money to see that. “So damn cheeky,” he muttered, leading me over to the wet bar and pouring me my favorite gin cocktail. We’d promised to visit Whitt and Tricia between Thanksgiving and New Years in Boston, and I was looking forward to it. Apparently, Helen was coming as well. I’d missed the old guard. They’d helped me escape more than anyone else, even the guys. Royal poured himself some scotch that I was sure cost more than the average car, and held the glass out to me. “To good friends, and the great love of my life?” “Music?” He shook his head. “No, Toy. You.” My heart thudded in my chest. Somehow, those small words continued patching all the broken pieces of my soul back together again. I pulled him close and hugged him tightly. The music turned into a ballad, and he slow-danced with me, our drinks pressed tightly to our chests. “I love you, Rourke Stokes. I love you with all your different personas and masks, because none of them change who you really are deep down.” We danced a little more, before Roman called Royal over to talk about Daydreamers Records. I went in search of Shep. He didn’t have any family at the gathering today, and in terms of upbringing, his was the closest to my own. But everyone here accepted that Shep was part of the guys. Like they’d all adopted the man the day he rescued them down on the boardwalk. Especially Jenny, Poet’s mom. I didn’t find Shep, but I did find Hero and Poet, cuddled close together on a stone bench, watching the rain fall. They had a blanket over their laps and looked so much like a festive card, I couldn’t help but step out there. They turned, and the smiles that lit up their face made me feel like I wasn’t an intrusion—rather that I was the perfect person to complete the moment. Hero lifted the blanket and settled me on his lap, and I leaned my head on his shoulder. Poet held my hand, his thumb stroking along mine. “Has Knight’s mom started on the wine yet?” I nodded. The senior Becks were an interesting pair. They were definitely stoned, and they were on their second, maybe third bottle of wine, but they were happy and jovial. The life of the party. I could see how they’d gotten the reputation they had, because I barely knew them and already I felt like they’d attended this party just for me. They didn’t seem to think that me falling in love with five guys was weird at all. In fact, Knight’s mom had fistbumped me. Insanity. I looked between them, my heart thumping in my chest. “Hey, guys?” Hero nuzzled my hair as he watched the rain. “Mmm, yes, sweetheart?” “You know I love you, right?” Admitting it out loud seemed terrifying. Like if I never said it, then they were never forced to say it back. There was comfort in the status quo. Poet leaned closer, kissing me with a gentle brush of his mouth on mine. “I love you too. So fucking much.” Hero pulled me back, dipping me over his arm until he could kiss me absolutely breathless. “I love you as well. Both of you. I’m so damn grateful that luck, or fate, or whatever other forces control shit brought you into my life.” It was early days yet, and life with so many men and only one of me was going to be complicated. It was hard enough deciding whose bed I slept in each night, or who slept in mine. But eventually, I’d figure out how to juggle, and we’d find a rhythm. I just knew that everything was going to be okay. We sat in silence, watching the rain and the traffic and the huge rolling clouds. I just soaked them in. My guys. Shep appeared, leaning against the door jamb. “Dinner’s ready.” The soft look in his eyes as he took us in made my chest feel full. Hero and Poet stood, kissing me on the cheek before ducking around Shep with a shoulder pat. I watched them go with a raised eyebrow. “Well, that wasn’t suspicious.” Shep grinned, leaning down to kiss me. “They know I wanted to tell you I loved you. When I think of the future, it has you in it, front and center. One day, I want to marry you and make you my wife. Start a family, maybe.” My breath stalled in my lungs. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me tight into a hug. “But not today. First, you get to live any life you want. If you want to travel, we’ll take you. You want to go to college, we’ll enroll you as soon as possible. The choice is yours now. The world is yours.” I burrowed my face into his chest, his smell so comforting, it was like a balm on my soul. “I love you too.” I tilted my head up to catch his lips, and he didn’t disappoint. He kissed me until I was breathless, and my body felt electric. “You know what else I love? Stuffing. Let’s eat.” Shep laughed, wrapping a huge arm around my shoulder and leading me back into the living room, toward the men who were my present and my future.
