An Arrange Marriage That Went Wrong Chapter 10

Chapter 10

“You’ll stay within your room until he and his father arrive,” Mrs. Poppy told Paris as she helped zipped her dress from behind.

“Yes,” Paris answered fixing her hair.

“I’ll be downstairs,” Mrs. Poppy informed Paris leaving the room.

Paris took one last look in the mirror and walked over to sit down on her bed nervously. She was so anxious for the dinner to be over with, it was killing her wondering if the suitor will like her or not.

“Paris,” Everlee called knocking on the door.

“You may come in,” Paris answered.

“Wow, you look beautiful,” Everlee complimented gazing at Paris at how stunning she was in her stylish white dress.

Paris thanked her, blushing.

“What do you want?” Paris asked curiously as to why Everlee wanted

to see her now.

“Are you sure about this, being married to a stranger you don’t even know if he’ll love you the way you hope he will?” Everlee asked closing the door behind her as she approached Paris.

“I know you’re trying to look out for me, but I can take care of myself,” Paris told her and turned her back walking over to her window.

“I understand and I’m sorry for trying to interfere in your life after leaving you, mom, and dad for 5 years,” Everlee apologized hating she had upset her in any way.

“It’s okay, I know you’re just trying to look out for me,” Paris slowly turned to face her.

Everlee nodded.

“I just don’t want you to be involved in a marriage that won’t make

you happy,” said Everlee sadly staring into Paris’s blue eyes.

“I’m thankful to you for caring for me, but a girl like me doesn’t get to choose the one they want to spend the rest of there with life with, Everlee,” Paris said sadly.

“Please don’t say that Everlee disagreed. If you wait, I’m sure you’ll find someone who loves you back.”

“I doubt that will happened,” retorted Paris.

“You just have to be patient,” said Everlee.

“I’m 26 years old, I’ve never been on any date, have a boyfriend, or even been kissed, I can’t wait anymore,” Paris said with tears in her eyes.

Everlee looked at her sadly.

The door suddenly opened, and Mrs. Poppy entered the room. Paris quickly wiped away her tears.

“What are you doing in here?” Mrs. Poppy asked Everlee.

“I was just leaving,” Everlee said as she gently touched Paris’s right hand and wished her good luck. She left the room closing the door behind her.

“Mom…., can’t you forgive her and be nice to her, for me please,” Paris begged Mrs. Poppy loathing her action towards her.

“I’ll try to, but I know your father won’t be able to forgive her.”

Paris hugged her happily. “Please don’t ruin your makeup,” Mrs. Poppy removed Paris’s arms from around her.

“Dinner is through for this evening and the dining room is well decorated all we have to do now is to wait until he arrives with his father,” Mrs. Poppy told Paris,

Paris nodded nervously.

“Don’t worry everything is going to turn out fine this evening, he wouldn’t be coming from so far if he wasn’t desperate for a wife,” Mrs. Poppy told Paris.

Mrs. Poppy touched Paris’s red cheek and inform her to sit until she was called downstairs to meet him. Paris nodded and watched her leave the room. She was now anxious to meet him by the last comment her mother had made. She too was now curious as to why he would have left his country to marry a girl like her if he were a wealthy man. There must have been plenty of girls back at his home that he could have chosen as his wife instead of coming to meet her all the way in Greenfield, Paris thought.

Eagerly Paris walked over to her window preparing to get the first glimpse of him when he comes. Her feet soon grew tired of staying at the window for too long. She pulled a chair and sat there peeking through the curtain of her window. She sat there with a racing heart as time drew nearer.
