An Arrange Marriage That Went Wrong Chapter 12

Chapter 12 “Paris,” Everlee heard Mrs. Poppy knocking down her door. She quickly put down the book she was reading and ran over to open the door. “Where is Paris?” Mrs. Poppy inquired gravely. “I don’t know,” Everlee answered cluelessly.

Mrs. Poppy stormed into the room.

“I know you’re lying,” said Mrs. Poppy. “Why would I lie about Paris’s whereabouts?” Everlee asked her mom staring at her confused. Mrs. Poppy walked towards her and stared into her eyes. “You truly don’t know,” she said.

“I have to go and find her.” She left the room.

“Mom,” Everlee called.

Mrs. Poppy didn’t stop.

Everlee began to worry about Paris discovering what had happened. She knew Paris must have become cold feet about meeting the suitor she was arranged to be married to and left home without anyone knowing. She went over to her bedroom window staring at the sky as it slowly darkens hoping Mrs. Poppy finds her and that she was out there safe.

Paris sat there silently now in the dark having only the moonlight. Her head rests on the tree bark, waiting for the right time to leave when she believes the suitor would be on his way back home. Paris knew she will not have it easy dealing with her mom when she returned home, but she didn’t care. She was happy she rejected him before he rejected her. She knew he’ll handle it well at how handsome he is, but not her who was ugly. If she had stayed this evening to meet him, she was positive, he would have refused to marry her. Paris has no idea how she would have handled his rejection, probably it would even take her years to get over it or more, for everything she had been through at a younger age she hasn’t yet managed to get over

half of it. Paris had realized she stayed at the secret place for too long. She now could barely manage to find hier way out without falling. She held onto trees supporting liersell to walk still without falling until she was at the back of her house. The carriage was not there when she returned. The handsome suitor and his father had returned home. Paris stood still for a minute staring at her house sadly trying to gain the confidence to approach her mom when she entered the house. She sneaked through the washing room and hurriedly went to her room not wanting to deal with her mother now. She was not in any mood. As she was about to enter her room, Everlee’s door opened.

“Paris,” she called very happy to see her. Paris ran into her room and lock the door not wanting to deal with anyone now. She wanted to be left alone. “Mom, Paris is here!” she heard Everlee shouted downstairs. Paris’s eyes closed irritated, laying onto her bed. “Paris open the door,” she soon heard Mrs. Poppy knocking down her door. Paris didn’t move, she remained. “Open the door,” her mom again commanded her. Again, Paris ignored her. Her eyes opened hearing her mom’s angry footsteps walking away from her door, feeling very relieved, but quickly she sat up on her bed when she heard her mom return and began to open her door with a key of her own.

“How there you enter my room without my permission and what are you doing with a key for my room,” Paris argued as her mom entered her room.

Everlee was right behind her as she did. “I have the right to come into your room after what you foolish did this evening, complained Mrs. Poppy. Do you know how embarrassing it was for me, to explain to your arranged-to-be husband and his father I didn’t know where you were?”

Paris cried

“He would never take me as his wife mom that’s why I had to leave!” Paris

shouted crying.

“How do you know!” Mrs. Poppy shouted back.

“You saw him didn’t you, Paris said softly weeping. He’s the most attractive and handsome man I’ve ever seen and when I saw him through my window, I know I will never be right for him that’s why I had to leave.”

“Paris don’t say that” Everlee ran over to consoled her.

“Please leave me alone,” Paris pushed her away.

It pains Everlee’s heart to see her sister so sad and there’s nothing she could do to take it away.

“Quit overreacting, said Mrs. Poppy. This evening you made me, and your father look like an idiot to our visitors now what are we going to do to make it up to them?”

“I’m sorry mom, but I couldn’t bear to stay here and be rejected by him,” cried Paris.

“You’re going to apologize to them for not showing up that’s if they even bother to reply to my letter or listen to me,” Mrs. Poppy argued as she stormed out of the room.

“Please let this go and forget about finding me a husband,” Paris cried to

her mom.

Mrs. Poppy ignored her.

Everlee ran over to Paris and hugged her. Paris this time didn’t push her away but returned her hug resting her head on Everlee’s shoulder soaking her shoulder with her tears.

“He was just too handsome for me,” she cried to Everlee.

“I’m here with you,” Everlee consoled her.

“He would never want me,” Paris again cried.

“Sh……, everything is going to be okay,” retorted Everlee as tears slowly too began to filled her eyes.

Holding her dear sister within her arms Everlee prayed that she would one day gain confidence within herself and be happy with who she was. Everlee thought of her sister as a wonderful and kind-hearted person. She knew

that once someone get to know her; they would learn to love her.
