“My word! Daddy’s little princess looks so beautiful” my dad says unable to contain his joy.

“Thanks dad” I say hugging him.

“We are running late where is your sister? ” he asks looking at his watch. Even on his daughter’s wedding day my dad still is concerned about time. I can’t believe how much I have missed him. The only parent that I am truly emotionally attached to and I would give the world for.

“Athena you look beautiful” my dad says almost shedding a tear. She decided to go with a nude strapless A-line dress with nude shoes to match and a delicately decorated veil. She truly looked like a princess.

We enter the most beautifully decorated room. If I didn’t know any better I would have said I was in a fairytale. The ballroom of our house was decorated with different types of white and pink flowers and the drapings on the wall made the whole thing look more magical than ever. All in all the room looked magnificent. We then stand on the other side of Nicholas and his friends which we are supposed to pair and leave with when we go to the reception outside. I don’t really have a problem with the fact that we are supposed to be paired up with Nicholas’ friends but I do have a problem with being paired with Kyle. After the way he treated me I quite frankly don’t want to talk to him or be in the same space let alone walk beside him. Athena and my dad then come walking up the isle to the alter. My dad exchanges a few words that only Athena and him can hear, hugs her and goes to sit. The whole thing of exchanging their vows and rings and whatnots takes forever. After what feels like a century they finish and go outside for the reception.

I look for Xavior for almost thirty minutes and when I almost give up and think he didn’t come I finally see him. He has no idea how how happy I am at least the whole Calathes family was here for this one event even though they did not realise it.

“Xavior I am so glad you came!” I say hugging him. I immediately see my mom eyeing me suspiciously.

“I couldn’t let you or Athena down I had to,” he says smiling,”I want you to meet my wife Emily and my twins Eleanor and Laurelai.” Emily is a beautiful brunette with brown eyes she looks like a model to be honest. The twins have black hair just like their dad and hazel eyes. I know I am going to have a hard time telling them apart.

“Hi Emily, Eleanor and Laurelai” I say hugging them unfortunately for me I mixed them.

“I am Laurelai she is Eleanor” Laurelai says holding my hand. I see that she has a beauty spot on the side of her hand. At least that is going to help me remember her. Emily calls the twins and leaves me and Xavior alone.

“Are you going to meet mom, dad and your sister” I ask.

“I have decided to do it tomorrow” he says seriously.

“But Athena won’t be here!”

“Ok then we will do it when she comes back.”

“Fine, you better be here in two weeks time or I am going to be the one telling them” I say defeated. We part ways and I run into Kyle and he accidentaly spills his drink on me and I fall. Clumsiness not in front of everyone I sigh. At least I can go and change since I am at home.

“I am so sorry” Kyle says helping me up.

“It’s ok” I say and I realise that I broke my stiletto. I proceed to take them off and walk to my room to change.

“Alex, I wanted to apologise for how I acted towards you” Kyle says following me to the house.

“That was pretty rude.Why have you been avoiding me?” I ask.

“I don’t know, I guess I got pissed at the fact that we had just reunited and you just disappeared. You didn’t answer my calls or messages and when I did come to you weren’t there. I honestly thought you didn’t want to see me” he says stopping.

“It’s not like that at all Kyle, you are my best friend or should I say my brother, how can I not want to see you again? It’s just that I had to go to this work thing and we weren’t allowed any phones so I had no means of communicating with you” I say hugging him. I have a feeling though that he did not believe my statement but he had decided to let it slip.

“We are cool right?” he asks smiling.

“Yeah we are” I say continuing my journey to my bedroom. I finally get to my room and I take out a maroon  dress out of the many formal dresses that my mother bought me and pair it with some black converse. I am not about to wear stilettos, not if I can help it. As I am about to get back to where everyone one is I run into Ashton.

“Hey Ash” I say hugging him.

“I have been looking for you” he says smirking.

“I have been busy, how long have you been here?” I ask walking with him back to the reception.

“About 10 minutes, but I have got to go I am meeting someone in 30 minutes.”

“So you can’t have a drink with your girlfriend for 5 minutes?”

“Fine just one drink and I am leaving.” My mother passes by and gives me a deadly glare. I have a feeling this is not going to end well. After being forced to take orange juice as a drink Ashton leaves. I am left alone at the bar. My mother somehow puts it in her head to come and talk to me. I am really not in the mood for this. I decide to run the other way I really don’t want to have a fight with my mom right now.

“Alexendra” she says stopping me in my tracks.

“Mom?” I say walking back towards her.

“What was that boy doing here?” she asks looking at my shoes.

“He umh, he came to see me” I say slowly. Why is she looking at my shoes like that?

“At your sister’s wedding? You know very well that Athena didn’t want him being here” she says seething.

“I know, that is why he had to leave” I lie. She analyses my response and gives me a disgusted look. She knows I am lying.

“I am sick and tired of you always being difficult. It stops now! I have let this go on for too long. You will no longer see that boy are we clear? Go wear appropriate shoes now!” she barks orders at me.

“No you will not dictate my life ok? I am not Athena. I will continue seeing that boy and I will not change my shoes I like them because they are comfortable” I say turning to leave. I faintly hear her saying something along the lines of Darius spoiled that child.
