An Arrange Marriage That Went Wrong Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Last night Paris barely slept. She turned and twisted in bed, anxiously waiting to be rejected by the suitor. The morning she was so tired and barely had the energy to get out of bed to get ready for work.

Today is the day I’ll be humiliated by the stranger after he sees me, she thought sadly.

Tears filled her eyes thinking about being shoved aside just as she had been treated in the past at her high school dance. Every girl had someone to dance with, even those who just came to the dance hoping someone would ask them for a dance. Paris thought she would luckily be in the same position as them, but no one asked her for a dance. The entire night she stood at the corner watching every female smiling happily with their dates and enjoying themself. It was the most painful time of her life.

Paris fell to the floor crying, before she could reach the bathroom to get a quick shower.

Her mom entered her room.

“What is wrong Paris?” she asked worriedly.

“I don’t want to be rejected by him,” she cried.

Mrs. Poppy lowered herself to the floor and held her by her face.

“He won’t,” she told her.

“How do you know mom?” Paris asked sadly.

Mrs. Poppy didn’t answer her instead she hugged her.

“You’re hurting yourself thinking negatively about him,” she told

Paris.

Paris soon stopped crying.

“Everything will be fine when he sees how beautiful dress you are today,” said Mrs. Poppy as she began to wipe away Paris’s tears.

Paris nodded.

You don’t have to go to work today, just stay here and try to get some sleep,” said Mrs. Poppy, seeing that Paris didn’t sleep last night.

“Meet me by the dress store at lunchtime and make sure you get some rest,” said Mrs. Poppy leaving the room.

Paris nodded and went over to her bedroom window, sadly watching her mom and her dad as they both left for work.

She tried sleeping as they left but she couldn’t, knowing she will be meeting the suitor she was arranged to get married to today. She decided to go downstairs for some coffee.

“Delilah,” she called the maid.

“Yes, Ms. Paris,” the maid answered.

“Please clean out Everlee’s room, she’s coming today,” said Paris.

The maid nodded and went to do what she was requested to do.

Paris walked into the living room after pouring out a large cup of coffee and sat down sipping her hot beverage sadly. “I wish my life was as easy as yours Everlee’s,” said Paris. Everlee was a popular girl in Greenfield high school, unlike Paris. Everlee was always the one who gained all the attention and Paris was always the one dying for all the attention, Everlee seemed to receive from her looks.

Men in New York must be chasing Everlee to have her hand, Paris thought, but knowing Everlee who doesn’t wished to become a wife like her one day, Paris knew Everlee’s must have turned them now one by one. Everlee doesn’t want to get married to pick up after any men or become their personal maid, she wants to be independent and does whatever she pleases. Sull, Paris thought her to be a lucky lady for always getting male attention. Paris could never remember being eye at or called out by a man who found her to be very attractive, never could she. She had always been ignored by them.
